Past Events and Volunteer Activities - 2015

 - December - Saturday the 5th, Volunteer work day - 9:45 am to 2:45 pm.  COMPLETED.  Thanks to Aiden and Greg.  VERY busy with "Dollar Days" this weekend, but got some good work completed. 

  - November -  Saturday the 21st, Volunteer work day - 9:45 am to 4:15 pm;  ALSO, the last Chesapeake Chapter, US LightHouse Society Volunteer Work Day on Lightship CHESAPEAKE for 2015. COMPLETED!! Many thanks to Andy, Anne, Donna, James, Jeff, Greg, Lauren, Paula, and Tony!  First time for James, so welcome.  Lots of good work and the Christmas lights are now up and look very nice.  Happy Thanksgiving all! 

  - October - Saturday the 24th, Volunteer work day - 8:30 am to 4 pm.  COMPLETED.   Greg and Rob were able to fix a number of important problem items.

 - October - Wednesday the 28th, Free Fall Baltimore, lecture on the Lightship Chesapeake - 6 to 7 pm.  click here for HSIB Free Fall events, advance registration required. 

 - September - Saturday the 19th, Volunteer work day - 7:30 am to 6 pm COMPLETED.  Thanks to Greg for the work on Sat and talking to the many LH Challenge visitors both days. 

 - September - Saturday/Sunday the 19/20th, Maryland Lighthouse Challenge - 8 am to 6(Sat) + 5(sun).  See CC-LHS the web site:  HERE

 - August  -  Saturday the 22nd, Volunteer work day - 8:15 am to 3:15 pm.   ALSO, Chesapeake Chapter, US Lighthouse Society Volunteer Work Day on Lightship CHESAPEAKE.   COMPLETED.  A little short today due to the heat, but we got a great deal accomplished.  Thanks Aidan, Anne, Greg, Hobie, Lauren, Paula and Susan, plus Rob from the HSIB staff.

  - August - Saturday the 22nd, Victory Night at Historic Ships In Baltimore (HSIB) - 6 to 8 pm.  A celebration of all who served on the HSIB historic ships and their descendants; plus the museum members and volunteers who preserve these ships.  This is a FREE event BUT a RSVP is REQUIRED.    All LS volunteers contact Greg for more information and to RSVP. 

 - August 15th + 16th 2014 - the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society International Lighthouse-Lightship weekend.  See the web site: illw.net

   - August 7th - NATIONAL LIGHTHOUSE DAY  -  By a joint resolution designating this day as “National Lighthouse Day" which was introduced to Congress on April 28, 1988 and signed into public law (No. 100-622) on November 5, 1988 by President Ronald Reagan    Click HERE to see the 2013 US Senate Resolution.    The date of August 7th was selected because on that date in 1789, President George Washington signed the Lighthouse Act of 1789 which transferred ownership and operation of all lighthouses in the U.   - July - Friday the 3rd, Volunteer work day - 8:15 am to 2:15 pm.  This is a change from previously posted dates.  COMPLETED.

  - June - Saturday the 6th, Volunteer work day - 8:30 am to 4 pm.  ALSO, Chesapeake Chapter of the US Lighthouse Society Volunteer Work Day on Lightship CHESAPEAKE.  COMPLETED.  A very busy day but lots of good work done.  A big thank you to Aidan, Andy, Anne, Greg, Heidi, Hobie, Lauren, Paula, Pete and Tony.  I special Thank You to Dawn and Michelle.  They volunteered for the morning and then toured the ship with the rest of the siblings and family of BMCS Hughes, who was assigned to the Lightship 116-538 in 1969 when it was assigned to the Delaware Light Station.  It is always a special day when past crew and/or family of the Lightship come on board to visit.   A final Thank You to Capt Bill Flohr of the Inner Harbor East Marina who donated the donuts and coffee for today's volunteer work day.

 - April -  Saturday the 11th - Volunteer work day - 9 am to 4 pmCOMPLETED.  Thanks Greg and Stephanie.       

 - March Saturday the 28th, Volunteer work day - 9 am to 3 pm;  ALSO, Chesapeake Chapter of the US Lighthouse Society Volunteer Work Day on Lightship CHESAPEAKE.   COMPLETED.   A cold day with snow showers, but lots warmth from our friendly and hard-working volunteers.  Thanks to Anne, Dick, Greg, Heidi, Hobie, Lauren, Paula, Stephenie and Tony, plus Rob from the HSIB staff.

 - March - Saturday the 7th, Volunteer work day - 10 am to 3:30 pm.  COMPLETED.  Thanks Aidan and Greg.  

 - February Saturday the 28th, POSTPONED to 7 March.

 - January Saturday the 17th, Volunteer work day - 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. COMPLETED.  Thanks to Aidan, Greg + Stephenie.  It was a cold day but we got a number of problems resolved!
